Cristiano Ronaldo mocked an award denial on social media after being left out of the IFFHS Best Players of 2023 list this week.
Ronaldo has been in great form with Al-Nassr since joining the Saudi Pro League club in January, scoring 37 goals and 13 assists in 43 matches and winning the Arab Champion Clubs’ Cup in August.
But when the International Federation of Football History and Statistics released its top 10 for the 2023 calendar year, Ronaldo’s international teammate Bernardo Silva was the only Portuguese to make the list.
Bernardo was placed eighth, while his Manchester City compatriot Erling Haaland took first place. When the IFFHS published its top 10 on Instagram, Ronaldo responded with a series of laughing emojis. Lionel Messi placed third, despite leaving Paris Saint-Germain for David Beckham’s Inter Miami in August.
