After Tottenham’s defeat to Brighton on Thursday, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou sent a new message to his management.

After a stunning start to the season, Tottenham fell back into trouble this Thursday at Brighton in the Premier League. Ange Postecoglou’s team lost to the Seagulls (4-2). A defeat which highlights the physical difficulties encountered by the Spurs for several weeks. The Australian coach admitted that his players’ fatigue was the cause of their defeat.

“We seemed tired and that’s understandable, we’ve already been on this trend for some time,” Postecoglou explained at a press conference. My players give everything. Even if they are not at their best physically, they gave everything they could and they made an effort at the end of the match. »

The physical fatigue of Londoners results from too limited a workforce. Indeed, the Lilywhites are suffering the consequences of the absences of several players: Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ryan Sessegnon, Rodrigo Bentancur, Manor Solomon, James Maddison and Ivan Perisic. The former Celtic coach, however, insisted on the need to strengthen quickly during the winter transfer window.

“If we can do business early, that’s great for us,” he said. Not just because we lost Romero, but because it was a whole month ago. Why waste it? It’s better if you can bring them in early, even if they don’t play, because we can send them to training and adapt them to our style of football. »

Tottenham are currently 5th in the English championship, one point from a qualifying place in the Champions League. The residents of Hotspur Stadium will need reinforcements to maintain the level of play displayed since the start of this 2023-24 financial year.
