Senegal announced this Friday the players called up for CAN 2024, many of whom play in Ligue 1.

The 2024 Africa Cup of Nations will begin on January 13 in Ivory Coast and the participating selections are gradually revealing the list of players called up for the competition. Lists feared and scrutinized by the various clubs concerned about losing major players while club competitions continue.

Ligue 1 decimated

This is particularly the case for Olympique de Marseille, which will lose many players during this period. This Friday, Senegal, defending champion, announced the list of players who will defend the title won two years earlier. Among them, we find three Olympians: Pape Gueye, Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaïla Sarr. We also find other Ligue 1 players like Mory Diaw (Clermont), Ismail Jakobs (Monaco), Formose Mendy (Lorient), Abdoulaye N’Diaye (Troyes), Lamine Camara (Metz), Nampalys Mendy (Lens) or again Krépin Diatta (Monaco).

For OM, these three names are added to an already full list of absent players since Mbemba, Mughe, Ngapandouetnbu, Harit and Ounahi will also compete in the CAN with their selection. The Riviera club will have every interest in strengthening itself during the winter transfer window.
