CAN: Nigeria unveils its list with a major absentee

Since Thursday, the 24 nations entered for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations have in turn revealed their lists of players selected to compete in the most prestigious African competition.

This Friday evening, it is Nigeria which communicates its list of players who will play in the tournament in Ivory Coast from January 13.

Super Eagles coach José Peseiro has called up 25 players including 7 attackers. However, one name does not appear in the Portuguese list.

OGC Nice striker Terem Moffi was not called up by his coach and will therefore not represent his country for the most beautiful African competition. A disappointment for the 24-year-old who has nevertheless had a satisfactory start to the season with the Aiglons.

Number 9 is one of the great architects of Nice’s excellent start to the season. He found the path to goal 6 times. Same story for Montpellier HSC scorer Akor Adams who was not called up to play in the CAN.

Returning to success for Nigeria

Nigeria is considered a historic nation on the African continent. The Super Eagles have won the tournament 3 times. Their last success dates back to the 2013 edition and a victory in the final against Burkina Faso (1-0).

In Ivory Coast, Victor Osimhen’s partners will need to be watched closely and could create a surprise. The objective is clear: to thwart the predictions and find themselves once again at the top of African football.
