The potential return of Raphaël Varane to Real during the winter transfer window divides those responsible on the Madrid side.
Real Madrid leaders have decided to go against the advice of coach Carlo Ancelotti regarding the recruitment of Raphaël Varane.
Ancelotti pushes for the arrival of Varane
Faced with a cascade of injuries within his defensive sector, Ancelotti has privately expressed his desire to have his former player back. At the end of his contract next June, Varane would be very interested in a comeback at the Bernabeu. He is even more so as he is going through a delicate period at Manchester United at the moment.
But according to the daily Marca, the idea is not shared by the Merengue hierarchy. The chief recruiter of Real Madrid, Juni Calafat, would not be against the signing of the former Lensois but Florentino Pérez, for the moment, is opposed to any agreement for the Frenchman.
As a reminder, Varane (30 years old) stayed at Real Madrid for ten years (from 2011 to 2021). He played a total of 360 matches with the Spanish giant, and contributed to winning five Champions Leagues. It’s the 29the most capped player in the history of Casa Blanca.
