Arrigo Sacchi, the former great coach of AC Milan, has spoken out on the case of Stefano Pioli.
Arrigo Sacchi, successful former AC Milan coach, believes that Stefano Pioli is paying for his poor planning during the summer period.
Sacchi supports Pioli
Pioli could be fired from his post after a series of poor results. Sacchi points out his bad choices, but believes that he is not responsible for everything. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, he said: “I don’t think the problem will be solved by getting rid of the coach. Pioli has done great things, but he has failed to show continuity in his work. But it must be said that I don’t know if there is anyone who could bring continuity to this team”.
Asked to elaborate to identify the Rossonerri’s current shortcomings, the former Squadra coach added: “It’s simple: there is no team. There is no continuity. There is no continuity, it is too fluctuating. In Salerno, there was no collective idea, but a group dispersed on the ground. Everyone does what he wants. The defense is in difficulty because the attackers are not helping it. That’s the real problem. The fact is that there are players who do not have continuity in their performances.”
Finally, Sacchi indicated that there were too many foreigners in the current Milan squad. “In my opinion, the summer transfer market did not allow us to recruit foreign players. We only brought in foreign players, who had not had any brilliant experience before. Plus, they had to get used to Italian football. But we have to understand that it can be difficult for young players arriving from abroad to integrate immediately. “
