Inter Miami continues to reshape its squad for the 2024 season.
David Beckham’s side have already strengthened their attack with the signing of former Barcelona player Luis SuĂĄrez, but are also looking to sign Boca Juniors striker Dario Benedetto. Reports from Argentina now suggest that the team is considering signing a top center back and will use Lionel Messi as a sort of “super agent” in order to convince international teammate Marcos Rojo to join MLS.
The Boca captain’s future is somewhat uncertain, although he has already reported in the pre-season. A few months ago, Argentine journalist HernĂĄn Castillo revealed that Brazil and the United States were seriously interested in the former Manchester United player. In recent days, Messi and Gerardo “Tata” Martino, the Herons coach, called the 33-year-old to discuss a possible transfer.
The trio already have extensive experience working together, with both players having been part of the Argentina team coached by Martino between 2014 and 2016. Rojo started when the Albiceleste reached the World Cup final 2014 in Brazil, as well as the Copa AmĂ©rica finals in 2015 and 2016, for which âTatoâ was on the bench. Along with Messi, Ăngel Di MarĂa and Gonzalo Higuain, the Boca defender was considered one of the leaders in the dressing room during this period.
