Manchester City have validated the signing of talented Argentine attacking midfielder, Claudio Echeverri.

Argentine strategist Claudio Echeverri is set to be Manchester City’s next signing, judging by reports coming out of England.

Manchester City bets on youth

Personal terms have been agreed for a €20 million transfer from Argentine club River Plate, while City remain in advanced negotiations with the club. The deal could close in the coming days.

The 17-year-old is expected to sign a five-year contract with the reigning European champions and be loaned directly to his current club until December 2024.

The attacking midfielder is considered one of the best players of his age after impressive performances with his club and Argentina Under-17s. He most recently featured as a starter on Saturday, December 23 in the Trofeo de Campeones final, where he played 61 minutes in River Plate’s 2-0 victory over Rosario Central.

Echeverri made six first-team appearances for his club and provided an assist on his league debut, as a substitute, in the 3–1 victory over Instituto.

Last month, he made headlines for his exploits with his country at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, where he scored a hat-trick against Brazil in the quarter-final.

Note that the Citizens are also on the verge of signing Leeds attraction Finley Gorman for a record fee.
