Chelsea’s French striker, Christopher Nkunku, will not play in his natural position with the Blues.

After several months of absence, French striker Christopher Nkunku recently returned to competition. He was present during Chelsea’s last match against Wolverhampton in the Premier League (1-2).

Soft start for Nkunku

During this part, the former Leipzig player played in a central position. And he will continue to do so. In order to spare him and facilitate his adaptation, Mauricio Pochettino, the Blues coach, seeks to make him avoid too much effort from the outset.

The Argentine coach explained this Tuesday at a press conference. “ Because he is coming back from injury, I think he is better as a 10 or 9, more than as a left winger on the right. At the moment, to meet the demands of the Premier League and the needs of the team, he is better in central positions.”

Pochettino has high hopes for Nkunku. And he is not the only one in this situation at Stamford Bridge. Axel Disasi also encouraged his compatriot to show his worth. “Everyone knows the quality of Christo. He came back from a long injury and I’m happy for him and for the team that he made an impact. He will definitely help us because he has a lot of qualities.”
