New Zealand striker Chris Wood shone on Tuesday in Newcastle. The Nottingham Forest center forward slammed a hat-trick for the first sensation of Boxing Day.

Boxing Day 2023 started with a bit of a sensation. Newcastle were surprised on Tuesday at home by Nottingham Forest (1-3) as part of the 18th day of the English Championship.

If the Magpies had taken the lead with a penalty converted by Alexander Isak, Chris Wood really hurt them. The New Zealand striker scored a hat-trick at Saint-James Park (45th+1, 53rd, 60th).

The 32-year-old center forward, specify Opta statisticians, is the seventh player to score three times consecutively (without an opponent’s goal in the meantime) during Boxig Day, after Thierry Henry (2000), Kevin Phillips ( 2000), Robbie Fowler (2001), Dimitar Berbatov (2011), Gareth Bale (2012) and Harry Kane (2017).
