In search of a midfielder, Manchester United could spend more than 100 million euros for a Portuguese nugget.

When receiving Aston Villa (3rd) for their first Boxing Day match, Manchester United finds itself in a very delicate sporting situation. Without a win for four matches in all competitions, the Red Devils are in 8th place in the Premier League (8 points behind the Big Four) and have been eliminated from all European competitions after a catastrophic Champions League campaign.

A nugget worth more than €100M

Far from the glorious hours of the club under the leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson, the Mancunian club could regain some momentum thanks to the arrival of the INEOS group, which bought 25% of the club’s shares and which will manage the sporting part and for another project to renovate Old Trafford. But United could begin their revolution this winter with the purchase of a Portuguese nugget, Joao Neves (19 years old). The Benfica midfielder, considered very promising, would be announced as Casemiro’s successor, if we are to believe information from Record.

The struggling Brazilian could well be asked to leave the North of England, and Neves would be cited to replace him. But this operation will be very costly and the leaders of the Lisbon club are undoubtedly already rubbing their hands. While Manchester United are preparing to offer around 100 million euros, Benfica could ask for 20 more to reach the amount of their release clause.
