Recently back in Italy, Italian central defender Leonardo Bonucci did not return to his native country just to spend Christmas with his family. Indeed, the former rock of Juventus hopes to bring back the colors of a Serie A club, while his adventure in Germany with Union Berlin is turning sour. According to information from Corriere dello Sport, José Mourinho’s AS Roma could well be tempted by the experience of the 36-year-old veteran. As reported in the pages of the newspaper, the contacts have been going on for more than a week and from the first moment there was also Roma’s intention to think about the feasibility of the agreement, with Tiago Pinto at work.

There is consensus among management for several reasons. Firstly, the long-term injury to Chris Smalling coupled with the upcoming absence of Evan N’Dicka for the CAN risks leaving minutes vacant at the central defender position. Then, one of the leaders of the Giallorossi locker room, Paulo Dybala, knows Bonucci very well having shared great epics with Juventus. And finally, the 36-year-old defender began his career in Treviso with teammate Salvatore Foti who is none other than José Mourinho’s assistant on the AS Roma staff.
