Mauricio Pochettino said Chelsea “need to learn” from games like their 2-1 defeat to Wolves, after being wasteful in front of goal at Molineux on Christmas Eve.

Chelsea suffered their eighth Premier League defeat of the season when they lost 2-1 at Wolves on Christmas Eve. Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino lamented his team’s ineffectiveness in front of goal and called on his young, inexperienced squad to learn from the failure and move forward.

The Argentine coach spoke to journalists after the match: “ Of course we are very disappointed. I think we deserved a lot more than we got, but we can’t hide that in a competition as strong as the Premier League, if you’re not clinical, you can’t complain (about the result) . »

“We created a lot of chances in the first half, but we didn’t score. We dominated possession and didn’t allow Wolves to put a single shot on target in the first half, so I think we should have gone into halftime with a different score. In the second half we conceded a few corners and allowed Wolves to take the lead. They showed more realism and that is why the result is as it is. »

Pochettino added : “We have talked a lot since the start of the season and we know that we are a young team. Some of these players are playing in the Premier League for the first time and they need to gain confidence at this level. They have to adapt to this level and, of course, it’s a matter of confidence and belief in themselves. We are a young team who must learn from this type of match. We know we can still improve and that’s something we need to work on. »
