Fourth in La Liga as mid-season approaches, FC Barcelona has identified a real weak point: its defense.
To overcome this problem, the Blaugrana club is considering repatriating one of its pearls from La Masia – Chadi Riad – loaned to Betis Seville with an option to purchase for the season.
The 20-year-old Moroccan international Espoirs shines in the Andalusian defense and could be a low-cost solution to strengthen Xavi’s squad.
🚨🔵🔴 Barcelona want to trigger €7m buy back clause for Chadi Riad, as first called by @sport.
It formally can’t happen now but only at the end of the season once Real Betis will buy him — then Barça will activate buy back clause.

To terminate this loan with purchase option, Barça will still have to pay the amount of the clause provided for this purpose, namely 7 million euros. However, it will be necessary to wait until the end of the current financial year to conclude such an agreement.
