AS Roma: José Mourinho had everything planned against Naples

A few days after their setback in Bologna (0-2), AS Rome hoped to get back on track in front of their home crowd against Naples to stay in touch with European places. At the end of an electric meeting, marked by the expulsions of Matteo Politano and Victor Osimhen in the second half, the Giallorossi won (2-0) thanks to the achievements of Lorenzo Pellegrini (76th) and Romelu Lukaku (90th +6). If this success allows José Mourinho’s men to overtake the Neapolitans in the standings and move into 6th place, the Portuguese technician believes that he had everything planned to thwart the opposing plans.

“Three points leaving us there, I knew we were going to win. We scored two incredible goals in the second half, we always had control against a team that was much technically superior to ours. Then, with a numerical superiority, we took advantage of the situation to make changes. Bove? He’s not fast but he has great stamina. We decided to line up Lukaku and Belotti to have more depth. Then, eleven against ten, I put Azmoun with Pellegrini and El Shaarawy to have more technique. I really liked the team after a hard week of work. I found them better prepared, they won a lot of duels. It’s a great victory.”welcomed the “Special One” in the post-match press conference.
