He was to liven up the transfer market and be at the heart of a war of the big names, between Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG. But Aurelio de Laurentiis is a president who knows how to maneuver, and he proved it by short-circuiting all this beautiful laundry. There was recently a meeting between the president of Napoli and the Nigerian’s agent, Roberto Calenda, to hammer out the final details of a contract extension.
It’s now official: Victor Osimhen has finally extended his contract with Naples for an additional year, he who was initially linked until 2025. Both parties are satisfied, with a new contract until 2026, a salary increase and a release clause between 120 and 130 million net, according to the Italian edition of Sky Sports. The latter is there to satisfy the player, who knows that an exit door exists.
Osimhen, with Kvaratskhelia
Arriving in 2020 from LOSC, Osimhen saw his first season truncated by injuries. But Neapolitan fans had already been able to appreciate the player’s qualities. The Nigerian striker went from strength to strength to achieve a fabulous 2022-2023 season, with 26 league goals and a Serie A championship title.
In a tweet published by Aurelio de Laurentiis, the president of Naples took the stage with the Nigerian striker in order to formalize this extension this Saturday. The future looks bright for Osimhen, who also sees his best provider Kvara Kvaratskhelia remaining at the club to best defend its chances in the Champions League and Serie A. Victor Osimhen, at Naples since 2020, has 118 appearances for the Azzurri and 67 goals scored. A nice Christmas gift for Neapolitan supporters.
