Lucas Vazquez could leave Real Madrid, with Los Blancos yet to begin negotiations for a new contract with the versatile striker.

The 32-year-old became the messiah of Carlo Ancelotti’s Vitoria side when he scored the winner in stoppage time against Alaves on Wednesday. Vazquez’s goal proved crucial for Los Blancos, who not only took all three points but also went into the Christmas break on top of the La Liga table.

Vazquez’s contract with Real Madrid expires next summer and, as of yet, no discussions have taken place regarding a possible extension, according to Marca. Although Real Madrid are apparently happy with Vazquez’s contributions, they are not rushing into contract negotiations. Discussions are expected to take place later in the season, and if Vazquez continues to perform, an extension could be considered.

Despite the long-term absences of key players like Eder Militao and David Alaba, as well as the recent unavailability of Ferland Mendy and Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid have shown immense resilience, conceding just seven goals in their ten last matches, with five matches without conceding a single pawn.
