At the Civitas Metropolitano in Madrid, the Colchoneros hosted Sevilla FC in a late match counting for the 4th day of La Liga. An important meeting for Diego Simeone’s men who had the opportunity to climb onto the podium. The opportunity also for Antoine Griezmann to overtake Luis Aragonés and thus become the top scorer in the history of Atlético de Madrid. After a completely controlled first act, the Colchoneros, organized in 5-4-1, left only crumbs for the Andalusians (7th) but did not, however, manage to break the deadlock despite several opportunities (3, 15th, 31st).

Held in check (0-0) at the break, Atlético returned with the same intentions after returning from the locker room. Substitute for Nahuel Molina, Marcos Llorente was quick to shine and opened the scoring just a few seconds after his appearance on the pitch (1-0, 46th). Rarely worried in this meeting despite the red card received by Caglar Soyuncu (70th), causing Griezmann to leave, Atlético thus offered themselves a precious victory (1-0). In the standings, the Colchoneros climb to the third step of the podium and are now ahead of Barça. Sevilla FC remains stuck in 15th place.
