Drama at AC Milan!

After another poor performance in Serie A against Salernitana on Friday evening, the leaders of AC Milan are looking for a successor to Stefano Pioli, as indicated by Gazzetta dello sport.

Appointed in October 2019 (after the dismissal of Marco Giampaolo), Stefano Pioli, the coach who led AC Milan to the title of Italian champion in 2022, is in the hot seat. The Rossoneri only took one on the field of Salernitana (2-2), Friday for the 17th day of Serie A. An equalizer in the 90th minute from Luka Jovic, on a header from Olivier Giroud even saved the team from a defeat. Milan are third with eight points less than Inter, who host Lecce this Saturday (6 p.m.).

As indicated La Gazzetta dello sport Saturday noon, the Milanese leaders as well as Gerry Cardinale, the owner of the club via the investment fund RedBird Capital Partners, decided to turn the page on Pioli. They are not only unhappy with the disappointing results, but also with the management of the technical staff with the squad, undermined by injuries. The fatalism of the 58-year-old technician in Salerno was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Furthermore, Mike Maignan’s AC Milan did not have a good Champions League group stage, despite a great victory against PSG (2-1) in a boiling San Siro, but also a final success snatched in Newcastle (1-2) which allowed the Lombard team to finish third in the standings. Reversed in the Europa League play-offs, the Rossoneri will face Stade Rennais. Probably with another coach.
