International defender Benjamin Mendy disrespected his coach at Lorient, Benjamin Mendy.
Clearly, Benjamin Mendy’s return to competition is not taking place in the best conditions. After two years off, the 2018 world champion returned to the field with FC Lorient. But his stay in Morbihan started very badly. His relationship with coach Régis Le Bris is stormy to say the least.
Mendy humiliated Le Bris
The ex-Manchester City player is one of the four executives who were singled out by the Breton technician following the heavy rout conceded to Brest (0-4). He was notably criticized for his lack of humility and application. A frontal attack that the ex-Monegasque did not like at all.
According to Insider Mohamed Toubache Ter, Mendy did not remain without reaction to this provocation. To his teammates and his entourage, he would have confided: “He’s the most slammed coach I’ve had”. Comments which were quickly reported to the main person concerned.
With this criticism, Mendy does not help his case at all. Until now defended and guarded by the institution and in particular by President Loïc Féry, the former French international risks making a mistake. A layoff, followed by a unilateral termination of his contract is entirely possible.
Note that Mendy is not the only Lorient player to have attacked Le Bris. Jean-Victor Makengo also went into confrontation with the Merlus coach. “Come on, let’s talk, do you want to destroy my career? “, he notably said to him between four z-them. Hello atmosphere!
