The Liverpool manager made some rather surprising comments about the Super League project.
Contrary to at Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, Liverpool is not part of the group of clubs pushing for the creation of the Super League. Jürgen Klopp, the manager of the Reds, also recalled that he supported “100%” the overall rejection of this project in England. However, the German technician was keen to provide some rather surprising details to qualify his position.
“I like FIFA and UEFA to be shaken up a bit”
According to Jürgen Klopp, the decision rendered Thursday by the European Court of Justice may be beneficial, in the medium term, to stop the permanent one-upmanship of football authorities. “In the future we will have to debate a lot of topics and if we just do what the institutions do – like creating new competitions, adding extra matches – if we don’t really have a say in what happens, I like them to be shaken up a little. I am delighted that we have finally had a little recognition that FIFA, UEFA and other bodies cannot do what they want.said Jürgen Klopp.
A statement that almost matches that of Carlo Ancelotti… “I have no doubt that this is going to be a positive thing for everyone. I haven’t had time to look at the format but I will. I repeat that this decision will be very good for football”
