Via its president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Paris Saint-Germain reacted to the proposal to create the Super League.

The announcement had the effect of a bomb. In a press release published this Thursday, the Court of Justice of the European Union indicated that the rules imposed by FIFA and UEFA regarding the creation of competitions, like the Super League, are contrary to the right of the European Union. In the process, the A22 Sports group submitted a proposal for a new European tournament which would include 64 clubs divided into 3 leagues. A project supported in particular by Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

For its part, Paris Saint-Germain, which had already opposed this Super League project two years ago, has not changed its position. “Paris Saint-Germain totally and completely rejects any plan for a so-called Super League, which has been the case since day one and will always remain so”has thus explained Nasser Al-Khelaïfi in a press release published on the social networks of the capital club.

“PSG supports the principles of the European sporting model”

“As a proud European institution, PSG supports the principles of the European sporting model, the values of open competition and inclusion, and works with all recognized stakeholders of European football – especially with supporters and players, who are at the heart of football »added the Parisian president, also head of the European Club Association (ECA).
