Real Madrid’s nice gesture for David Alaba

By: Manu Tournoux

It was a hard blow for Casa Blanca: Austrian central defender David Alaba left his team in the 35th minute, with the help of club doctors, due to a serious knee injury during the victory against Villarreal at the Santiago-Bernabéu (4-1). A new unavailability which adds to those of Eder Militao, Arda Güler, Vinicius Junior or even Thibaut Courtois, who has already announced his withdrawal for Euro 2024 and implicitly a 2023-2024 season without a single match.

And as they entered the pitch at the Estadio Mendizorrota in Vitoria-Gasteiz to face Deportivo Alavés (kick-off at 9:30 p.m.) for the 18th day of La Liga, Carlo Ancelotti’s men carried a t-shirt before the pre-match protocol with the inscription “Mucha Fuerza David” (much courage David in Spanish). Nice gesture from the Merengues for their 31-year-old teammate, added to that of Bayern Munich, who had offered the services of their surgeon for his time on the billiards table.
