Christophe Galtier, accused of discrimination and moral harassment, will hear his verdict this Thursday.
Christophe Galtier will know his sentence. The Nice criminal court is due to pronounce its verdict this Thursday at the start of the afternoon in the case of discrimination and moral harassment of which he is accused.
The facts date back to the 2021-2022 season, when Galtier was at the head of the Aiglons. The French coach is notably accused of having made racist and homophobic remarks against certain players, as well as of having established a climate of pressure within the locker room.
During the trial, the public prosecutor requested a sentence of 12 months’ imprisonment, a fine of 45,000 euros and ineligibility for election for three years. The defense of the southern technician, for its part, requested acquittal, relying in particular on the testimonies of several personalities from the football landscape, including the former Gym striker Andy Delort.
“Me, sincerely, I have never heard Christophe Galtier (make racist or discriminatory remarks, editor’s note), declared the Algerian international at the microphone of RMC Sport. However, I did the full season (in Nice) and I saw all the comments that came out (in the press). Don’t you think this story is coming out a little late anyway? The thing against Saint-Etienne, I was there but I didn’t hear. I do not confirm the comments because I did not hear them. »
The verdict of the criminal court will therefore be impatiently awaited. It could have important consequences for the career of Galette, currently manager of Al-Duhail in Qatar.
