Pep Guardiola, Manchester City manager, has commented on the rumor of a possible return to Spain.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has ruled out a return to Spain as manager.

Guardiola loyal to Manchester City

Guardiola is currently preparing to lead City in Friday’s Club World Cup final in Jeddah. Asked about a return to La Liga, the former FC Barcelona coach replied: “For the moment, I have one year of contract and I am very, very happy in Manchester. I want to renew my contract, if my managers don’t fire me. I still have time left at City.”

Guardiola’s current contract runs until 2025. If he stays until then, the Catalan technician will have coached the Sky Blues for nine full seasons. He is already the most successful coach in the history of the club. Only the Club World Cup is missing from his list and this gap could be filled in the coming hours.

As a reminder, Guardiola launched his coaching career at Barcelona. He stayed there four years and notably won two Champions Leagues (2009 and 2011).
