Victim of a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left leg just before the start of the season, Thibaut Courtois (31) is still recovering and hoped to be back on the field next April-May. Perfect timing to participate in Euro 2024, this summer with Belgium. However, the Red Devils goalkeeper indicated that he did not prefer to fly to Germany with his selection. “Due to my injury, there will be no Euro 2024 for me anyway”first released the Real Madrid goalkeeper at the microphone of Sporza.

“I prefer not to give a date for my return to competition. I need to recover 100% from my injury first. If I’m lucky, I’ll be able to play another match in May. But you can never be 100% ready for a big tournament (…) I think it is better to immediately bring this clarity to the national team. I’m not going to be in goal at 80%, even though we have other good goalkeepers. I’m putting my honor aside and will just be another supporter in June. I hope they win Euro 2024”, added the goalkeeper. A hard blow for the Belgian people, but also for the Merengue supporters.
