Real Madrid still want a 9, so in Spain, Argentine international striker Mauro Icardi is reportedly being considered as a temporary option.

Real Madrid are still looking for a successor to Karim Benzema who left for Al-Ittihad this summer. The Madrid leaders have also been linked to several players, notably Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland and Victor Osimhen.

But a persistent rumor coming from Radio Marca suggests that the White House could turn to Mauro Icardi, the Galatasaray striker, despite the denials of coach Carlo Ancelotti. “A new striker in January? No, it’s a completely different problem,” declared the Mister.

The Argentinian international, author of 17 goals in 25 matches in all competitions this season, and his salary estimated at 8 million euros would represent an affordable investment for the La Liga resident club.

However, the former Parisian would only be a temporary solution for Real in order to provide competition to Josélu at the forefront of the attack. Indeed, recent reports indicate that the Whites would consider securing the services of the Nigerian international and African Ballon d’Or 2023, whose release clause was set at 130 million euros by Naples.

It now remains to be seen whether the Spanish club will opt for the temporary solution or the long-term one which consists of signing a top number 9.
