Burglars broke into Kevin De Bruyne’s home in Belgium and stole jewelry while the Manchester City star is in Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup.

The Manchester City midfielder and his family were robbed when burglars broke into his home in Zolder, Belgium. No one was at home at the time of the burglary as the player is currently in Saudi Arabia with the Cityzens squad for the Club World Cup. After investigation, the Limburg public prosecutor’s office reported that the theft occurred between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. local time on December 16. The criminals completely ransacked the house and left things upside down. It was Michele Lacroix, De Bruyne’s wife, who discovered the theft.

The official investigation report from the prosecutor’s office states that “Everything has been turned upside down, so that it is not yet clear what the exact loot is. But at first glance, it seems that it was mainly jewelry that was stolen. The investigation into what exactly happened is still ongoing. The forensic laboratory has already arrived on site for a trace investigation and a neighborhood and camera investigation will follow. The identity of the authors is therefore not yet clear.”

The Belgium international injured his hamstring during the Champions League final against Inter last May. The injury recurred in the Sky Blues’ season opener against Burnley, and the star player had to be replaced early in the game. He has now returned to training and has accompanied the squad to Jeddah where Pep Guardiola’s side will play their first Club World Cup match against Urawa Reds on Tuesday.
