Manchester United being completely helpless for their clash against Liverpool this Sunday, Raphaël Varane continues as a starter with the Red Devils.
Raphaël Varane has a chance to regain his letters of nobility. Starting this week in the Champions League, during a defeat against Bayern Munich which sounded the death knell for Manchester United’s European season this season, the 2018 world champion continued in Erik ten Hag’s starting eleven for the Derby of England against Liverpool, this Sunday (5:30 p.m.) at Anfield.
At the same time, the Dutch technician of the Red Devils is deprived of numerous players and in particular of his central defenders Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelöf, slightly injured (in addition to Lisandro Martinez, seriously injured). Varane is thus associated with Jonny Evans, 35, to face Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz. Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw complete the Mancunian back four.
Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount and Anthony Martial are also unavailable, while Bruno Fernandes is suspended. The midfield is therefore made up of Kobbie Mainoo (18 years old), Scott McTominay and Sofyan Amrabat. Rasmus Hojlund, still without a league goal since his arrival, is supported by Antony and Alejandro Garnacho in the attacking sector.
