Manchester United snatched a draw against Liverpool this Sunday, during the England derby.
This Sunday, we had the privilege of attending a new opus of the England derby, which pits Liverpool against Manchester United, as part of the 17th day of the Premier League. This new edition of the traditional English clash pitted a Liverpool team in great shape and back at the top in the league. Undefeated in the PL for more than two months, the Reds intended to defend their first place. Opposite, Manchester United began this shock by being in crisis again after the defeat at home last Saturday against Bournemouth (0-3).
The Reds wanted to enforce this hierarchy by offering themselves a first opportunity around the half-hour mark. On a corner kicked by Alexander-Arnold from the right flank, Van Dijk won his header duel with Shaw in the area. Present on the trajectory, Onana diverted the leather with both hands. The Reds dominated the proceedings, but Manchester United resisted well. So the score was still 0-0 at half-time.
Shortly after the hour mark, Liverpool had another opportunity. Trent Alexander-Arnold tumbled and took the right at ground level on an ideal serve from Mohamed Salah. United responded a minute later. Hojlund collected the leather on the right in the area, in front of Endo, and crossed hard with his right foot. Alisson blocked the angle and pushed back with his torso. The end of the match was eventful, including a ball which hit Shaw’s left arm after a bounce on the ground without the referee flinching. Dalot was then sent off following a second yellow, but the score did not change. The Red Devils snatch a draw.
