Another horrible injury at Real Madrid

Real Madrid central defender David Alaba suffered a knee injury during the first half of the match against Villarreal on Sunday evening.

The central defender accidentally twisted his knee on the pitch during the first half of the La Liga match between Madrid and Villarreal. After spending two minutes on the ground clutching his left knee, he was helped off the field.

Alaba’s injury – if it is as serious as it appears to be – leaves Real Madrid with just two central defenders on foot. Midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni has already played at center back this year, meaning Carlo Ancelotti has a lot to think about.

The Madrid side have already suffered from a handful of knee injuries this season. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois tore his anterior cruciate ligament the week before the La Liga opener. Militao lasted less than an hour in Los Blancos’ first match before in turn injuring his anterior cruciate ligament. Eduardo Camavinga is out until the end of the year after tearing his knee ligaments in the French team.
