Real Madrid and Turkey wunderkind Arda Guler is not expected to play until at least 2024 as his difficult debut in Spain continues.
Guler, 18, has failed to establish himself in the Real Madrid first team since leaving Fenerbahçe in the summer. The young prospect has suffered from injuries and remains far down the pecking order, while players like Jude Bellingham are having a good time at the Bernabeu in his position.
Guler is now unlikely to play for Real Madrid in the remaining matches against Villarreal and Alaves during the calendar year. Madrid’s coaching staff do not wish to rush the bright but inexperienced star into the limelight and prefer to wait for the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey matches to give Guler his chance to shine.
Guler became the first Turkish player to sign for Real Madrid since Nuri Sahin joined the Whites from Borussia Dortmund. Sahin, also expected to become a great player, suffered from injuries and failed to establish himself in the Madrid team. Guler hopes not to meet the same fate. He will have to be patient before having the opportunity to put on the Madrid jersey for the first time. His highly anticipated debut is set to take place next year and the Turk will attempt to reach the heights of his idol and former Madrid hero, Mesut Ozil.
