Following Manchester City’s draw and the victories of Newcastle and Chelsea, the 17th day of the Premier League continued this Saturday with a bottom-of-the-table duel between Burnley and Everton. In good form these days, the Toffees offered themselves a valuable success in the quest to maintain their position by outclassing the Clarets (2-0). Faced with a Lancashire team that has been in great difficulty since the start of the season, Sean Dyche’s men were quick to take the game into their own hands.

In charge of a set piece, Dwight McNeil placed the leather on the head of Amadou Onana who rose higher than everyone in the opposing area to open the scoring (19th). A few minutes later, Michael Keane followed suit. In two stages, the English defender managed to deceive the vigilance of James Trafford (25th). Returning from the locker room, the visitors maintained the pressure on the opposing cages but the English Espoir international worked hard to avoid a total disaster for his team. As a result, Everton continues with a fourth success in a row and distances itself from the red zone (16th, 16 points). For its part, Burnley remains stuck in the penultimate place (19th, 8 points) and is 6 points behind the first non-relegation place, Nottingham Forest.
