Antoine Griezmann’s Atlético Madrid was beaten at Athletic Bilbao (2-0) this Saturday in La Liga, and is losing ground in the title race.

Three days after securing first place in its Champions League group against Lazio Rome (2-0), Atlético Madrid was swept away by Athletic Bilbao (2-0) this Saturday at the occasion of the 17th day of La Liga.

Clumsy in the first period, the Leones confirmed their domination from the restart thanks to Guruzeta (51st), before Nico Williams sealed the Basque victory (64th). Scorer this week in C1, Antoine Griezmann was the most threatening Madrilenian, but remained silent and was replaced on the hour mark.

This success allows Bilbao to move closer to the podium (5th), while Atlético continues a third loss in a row away from home in the league and remains 7 lengths behind leader Girona.
