Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has set himself an ambitious target as he prepares to return to action following hamstring surgery.
The Belgian midfielder, who was substituted early in the Champions League final due to a hamstring problem, made intensive efforts to return to the field. Unfortunately, he experienced a recurrence of his injury on the opening night of the Premier League season, which forced him to leave the game against Burnley after just 23 minutes. He is gradually regaining his fitness and has declared loud and clear that he wants to rise to the top once he becomes available for selection.
De Bruyne addressed journalists at a press conference, making a solemn promise: “I want to be the best. It never stops. I want to be in the best team, I want to be the best player in the world. I am still so motivated every day.
“Even after four months of being away, I tried to find ways to transform myself as a player so that I could continue doing what I was doing before. I’m sure I’ll feel good once I’m back on the field. I just hope to continue playing good football and that’s already good. »
Although De Bruyne will travel to Saudi Arabia with the squad for the Club World Cup, he is not expected to return to form until mid-January at the earliest. His return would be a huge boost for City heading into the Champions League last 16, where the club will attempt to defend their crown. De Bruyne was in incredible form last season: he provided 31 assists in 49 matches and scored 10 goals.
