The Ultras Paris Collective announced this Friday via a missive published on social networks, the boycott of the Champions Trophy.

PSG will not be able to count on its most fervent supporters during the Champions Trophy. Scheduled for January 3 at the Parc des Princes, the match between the 2023 French champion, Paris Saint-Germain, and the winner of the Coupe de France, Toulouse, will be played without the Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP), which has decided to boycott this meeting. In a press release published on social networks, the Parisian ultras put forward “multiple reasons”.

“The Ultras Paris Collective has decided to boycott the champions trophy which will take place on January 3, 2024 in our Parc des Princes, can we read. There are multiple reasons. For years the LFP has organized the champions’ trophy abroad, selling it to the highest bidder to the defiance of loyal supporters. Obviously this year the “League of Talents” was unable to find a host country and finally remembers after years the French fans who populate our stadiums…”

“Moreover the prices imposed by the LFP are unacceptable and go against our values and the defense of popular football, for the record visitor tickets cost 18.50e for the LDC match in Dortmund, is added. Finally, the global security context which continues to point the finger at supporters in contempt of their freedom to come and go does not make us want to be extras in this masquerade which aims to be the showcase of French football which stigmatizes supporters in disregard of their rights. For all of these reasons, we will let the LFP organize this trophy in a lifeless stadium which should remind it of previous editions in China, the USA or elsewhere…”
