Arriving in 2020 at Olympique Lyonnais, Sinaly Diomandé notably had a good period under the leadership of Laurent Blanc. Sidelined by Pierre Sage, the defender wants to leave.
The difficult first part of the season for Olympique Lyonnais has caused victims and could continue to cause some turmoil. Already two coaches dismissed (Laurent Blanc and Fabio Grosso) and players sometimes sidelined. This is for example the case of Sinaly Diomandé, who was part of the Lyon defense last season when Laurent Blanc was still on the Rhone bench. The Ivorian is nothing more than a shadow of himself this season, like the entire OL defense and from now on, he no longer seems to fit into Pierre Sage’s plans. Enough to provoke desires to leave.
According to information released Friday by Foot Mercato, Sinaly Diomandé no longer wishes to play for Olympique Lyonnais. In question, this famous decision by Pierre Sage to exclude him from the professional group for OL’s trip to AS Monaco (9 p.m., 16th day of Ligue 1). And if Diomandé seems decided to pack up, it is to leave this winter, he who is under contract with Lyon until June 2025.
Lyon is not against
The specialized media explained that Olympique Lyonnais was not against an early departure of its defender, on condition of recovering a small nest egg. A sum of between five and seven million euros could satisfy Lyon management. A replacement for Diomandé is even already on the agenda and Rhone recruiters are at work to find his successor.
