José Mourinho took part in the game of unveiling his dream lineup this week. The choices of the Special One caused a reaction.
José Mourinho has never taken on the role of coach, but his role as coach is enough for him to decide and make strong choices. From FC Porto to AS Roma, via Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham, the man nicknamed the Special One has managed some of the greatest players of the contemporary era.
The idea of seeing Mourinho unveil his dream eleven was therefore enticing. It was proposed by one of his former protégés, John Obi Mikel, in his podcast “ The Obi One Podcast“. And the least we can say is that Mourinho seems to have been marked by his different periods on the Chelsea bench.
No Benzema, Sneijder or Eto’o…
In goal, José Mourinho opted for Czech goalkeeper Petr Cech, the great architect of his first titles in England. The Portuguese has concocted a 4-3-3 system in which we find a defense made up of three quarters of former Blues: John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho in central defense, William Gallas on the left and the former Interiste Javier Zanetti on the right.
The midfielder combines athletic impact, technical finesse and projection ability. Claude Makélélé is aligned as a sentry in front of the defense, in an area reinforced by the offensive power of Frank Lampard and Mesut Özil. Finally, the attack also looks good with the presence of Eden Hazard, Didier Drogba and Cristiano Ronaldo, from left to right.
Many observers did not fail to notice that José Mourinho had overlooked some big names. No trace of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos, Samuel Eto’o, Wesley Sneijder or Paul Pogba…
