The Real Madrid football club made it clear: there are no ongoing negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé, or with any other member of the Paris team. In a brief statement released on Saturday, November 4, the “Maison blanche” expressed annoyance over the rumors that have surfaced in recent days: “In light of the information put forward and published lately by various media outlets, which speculate about alleged negotiations between the player Kylian Mbappé and our club, Real Madrid wishes to declare that this information is categorically false.”

After once again dominating the Spanish press throughout the summer, the future of the 2018 world champion who has long been courted by Madrid and is at the end of his contract with PSG in June 2024 resurfaced this week in sports newspapers. “Real remains silent but envisions him in white in 2024,” was the headline in Marca on Thursday, accompanied by a photo of the Frenchman. The newspaper assured that the Madrid dressing room “believes he will land at the Santiago-Bernabéu.”

In France, L’Equipe had also mentioned “an uncertain future” for the 24-year-old French international, who, according to the newspaper, has not ruled out staying in Paris. Kylian Mbappé rejoined the PSG first team on August 13, after being sidelined by the management, who were displeased with his decision to play the season for the club without extending his contract beyond June 2024.

“We want him to stay, we can repeat it two or three times. But he cannot leave for free. That’s non-negotiable,” said President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi on July 5 during the presentation of Spanish coach Luis Enrique. Tensions have since eased, and the forward has regained his place as a starter, as well as his status as a leader within the group. He has scored ten goals in ten Ligue 1 matches.
