Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea manager, had surprising behavior towards Thiago Silva last weekend.

Chelsea players believe their manager Mauricio Pochettino disrespected Thiago Silva. An episode which could well cause a climate of tension within the club.

According to the Guardian, Chelsea players are baffled by Pochettino’s decision not to give Thiago the armband in the absence of captain Reece James and vice-captain Ben Chilwell.

Indeed, and to everyone’s surprise, Pochettino gave the armband to Conor Gallagher rather than the former Parisian. Even Levi Colwill was captain this season when Gallagher was suspended. If this is not a disavowal of “O Monstro” it strongly resembles it.

This decision did not leave the Chelsea locker room without reaction. It led to discussions among the players, who wondered whether it was insulting to their veteran teammate to be ignored as he was.
