PSG supporters deprived of travel

A ministerial decree published this Wednesday announces the travel ban on PSG supporters in Lille this Sunday.

If Paris Saint-Germain supporters were authorized to travel to Dortmund this Wednesday in the Champions League – there will be 3,800 of them in the Signal Iduna Park lot – they will not be able to go to Lille this Sunday, at occasion of the 16th day of Ligue 1. A ministerial decree was issued to prohibit Parisian fans from this short trip.

“On Sunday, December 17, 2023 from zero a.m. to midnight, individual or collective travel, by any means, of any person claiming to be a supporter of Paris-Saint-Germain or behaving as such, is prohibited between the municipalities of the Ile-de-France region, on the one hand, and the municipalities of Lille and Villeneuve-d’Ascq (North), on the other hand”is it stipulated in article 5 of this ministerial decree.

“Relationships marked by animosity”

“Supporters of Lille Olympique Sporting Club and Paris-Saint-Germain maintain relations marked by animosity; that this antagonism finds its origin in a violent brawl which opposed the supporters of the two clubs on April 29, 2012 in Lille, is added. The movements of the Paris-Saint-Germain club are frequently a source of disturbances to public order due to the violent behavior of certain supporters or individuals claiming to be supporters of this team, manifested recurrently around the stadiums. stadiums and in the city centers of meeting places, by brawls between supporters as well as by violence against the police or the throwing of firecrackers, smoke bombs, causes of injuries. »

Around 1,100 PSG supporters, including 600 ultras, were expected in the North on Sunday. Note that fans of Stade Rennais, OGC Nice, Stade de Reims and Stade Brestois were also banned from traveling for this 16th day of Ligue 1.
