The former Real Madrid striker broke the Club World Cup goalscoring record when he scored for Al-Ittihad against Auckland City.

The French striker became the first player to score in four different editions of the FIFA Club World Cup when he scored in the 40th minute in the Saudi Pro League side’s 3-0 victory.

Benzema criticized, but still effective

The ball was started by a deflected strike from Brazilian striker Romarinho in the 29th minute, followed by a superb strike from former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo KantĂ© five minutes later. Benzema then completed the triumph by scoring the third goal.

This is Benzema’s sixth time at the Club World Cup, having played for Los Blancos the previous five times. Remarkably, Benzema has won every edition he has participated in, lifting the trophy in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022.

The “Nueve” has scored five goals in 10 appearances at the Club World Cup and is close behind Cristiano Ronaldo (7) and Gareth Bale (6) in the ranking of the top scorers in the history of the competition.
