Real Madrid will strengthen their array of young talents with what many consider to be the most talented striker of his generation, Endrick Felipe.

Endrick will leave Palmeiras next July for a fee of 40 million euros, of which 20 million euros are variable. However, the 17-year-old was very close to joining the Premier League, as a verbal agreement had been reached with Chelsea.

In the Spanish capital, the capture of Endrick adds to the list of highlights of Rodrygo Goes, Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga, players who refused bigger offers to favor Real Madrid. However, it turns out that this was not the case for Endrick, who was very close to joining Chelsea.

Chelsea almost bought Endrick

“I was very close. My parents really liked London and everyone speaks of it in glowing terms”Endrick told the Guardian.

His father, Douglas Felipe, had even traveled to London to see what his new life would be like.

“They explained everything to us. They introduced us to the person who was going to help us get settled. She showed us the house we were going to live in, the school Endrick was going to attend, the church we were going to attend. Everything was going well for us and for Chelsea.”

Douglas admitted the deal was almost done with Endrick and Palmeiras until the Premier League club pulled out.

“I can’t say 100% because I hadn’t signed yet, but the deal was done. I had already got it into my head that I would live in London with all this cold. But in the evening, my son’s manager called me to tell me that the Chelsea owner had pulled out of the deal because the price he would have had to pay for Endrick would have inflated the market. It was 60 million euros for a 16-year-old boy who would not arrive in the country until almost two years later. »
