In the event of qualification for the round of 16 of the Champions League at the end of their match in Dortmund on Wednesday evening, PSG will know their possible opponents. Finishing at the top of the group would avoid some serious problems…
PSG has every interest in winning its last match of the Champions League group stage at Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday evening (9 p.m.). Second before this “final” in Germany, the Parisians can overtake BVB in the event of success but a draw could condemn them to third place in the event of Newcastle’s victory at home against Milan.
By finishing at the top of their group, Luis Enrique’s team will especially avoid the group winners. The favorites almost all finished on top, like Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern, Arsenal and probably Barça on Wednesday evening. Only Real Sociedad has, for the moment, made a first surprise. The Basques are only sixth in La Liga, with 8 victories in 16 days.
Among the runners-up in the group, we find the Italian representatives Inter Milan and Napoli, while waiting for Lazio (who are playing a “final” on the ground of Atlético, which has one point less). Copenhagen, PSV and FC Porto or Shakhtar (who face each other) would make much weaker opponents.
Group winners: Bayern, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Manchester City
Group runners-up: Copenhagen, PSV, Napoli, Inter Milan, Leipzig
Already qualified: Atlético, Lazio, Dortmund, Barça
