Currently, eleven places separate Liverpool (1st) from Chelsea (12th). A clear ranking which shows that despite the Blues’ enormous spending, the Reds are much better equipped and are delivering their score in the Premier League. However, this summer, Mohamed Salah’s teammates looked grim when Moisés Caicedo and Roméo Lavia chose to join southwest London rather than Liverpool. A choice which has not yet paid off, and which has the gift of amusing Jürgen Klopp.

During an event at Anfield to inaugurate the expansion of one of the stands, the German coach addressed his supporters by referring to the Blues. “This summer some strange things happened in the transfer market, but here between us I can say: ‘My God, were we lucky huh?’ We didn’t know it at the time and it didn’t feel like it at the time, but yeah, I’m really happy it worked out, but you never know until then. We obviously realized that other central defensive midfielders didn’t want to join Liverpool, you see what happens, and then we found (Wataru) Endo. He’s an exceptional player.”, says Klopp. As a reminder, Roméo Lavia has still not played a single match under his new colors, injured, while Moisés Caicedo is still far from his best level.
