THE RC Lens concluded their Champions League group stage campaign with a home victory against Sevilla, securing three valuable points (2-1). PSV Eindhoven shared the points with Arsenal (1-1). The Gunners opened the scoring at the end of the first half thanks to a goal from Eddie Nketiah (42′). However, PSV’s determination showed after the break, with Yorbe Vertessen equalizing just five minutes after returning from the locker room (50′). In the end, Arsenal (13 points) and PSV (9 points) qualify for the round of 16 of the competition, while RC Lens (8 points) are transferred to the Europa League after this competitive group stage.

Kingsley Coman lights the way

In a match which started on a sluggish note with sterile play from Manchester United, Bayern Munich finally managed to take the advantage (1-0) against a team not really on its best day. The first period took place without much fanfare, with difficulties on the Bayern Munich side, notably from their scorer Harry Kane who was not in optimal form.

However, the tide of the match changed in the 70th minute when French wisp Kingsley Coman managed to find the net. A decisive action which allowed Bayern Munich to take the advantage and reverse the situation. Despite the difficulties encountered in the first period, the team was able to capitalize on this achievement from Coman to win the match.

Despite a lackluster first half, FC Copenhagen managed to win against Galatasaray (1-0). Lukas Lerager became the hero of the day by scoring the only goal of the game in the 58th minute, just after returning from the locker room. This decisive goal not only breathed life into an initially sluggish performance from the Danish team, but also allowed FC Copenhagen to take the lead and secure a valuable victory.

In a remarkable run during the group stage, Le Rekordmeister consolidated their dominance by finishing on top of Group A with a total of 16 points. This course, composed of five victories and a draw, ensured their qualification to the next round with authority. Copenhagen, by placing second, also secured its ticket to the next phase despite fierce competition.

On the other hand, the European competition ended prematurely for the Turks, who had to settle for third place. They will now have to prepare for the C3 play-offs. For the Red Devils, the European adventure has come to an end, with their elimination from all continental competitions. A disappointment for the supporters, but an unavoidable reality for the team, which will have to turn to other objectives.

Heroic Joselu and Ceballos

In a thrilling clash, Napoli took the lead in the 9th minute thanks to an own goal from Braga defender Serdar Tasci. The Partenopei then consolidated their lead with a goal from Victor Osimhen (2-0), recently crowned with the 2023 African Ballon d’Or. Despite a solid performance, Naples had to settle for second place in their group, behind Real Madrid, with a total of 10 points, including 3 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses.

In a match full of twists and turns, the Berlin Union created a surprise by taking the advantage on their home pitch against Real Madrid. Against all expectations, Kevin Volland scored a crucial goal in the last seconds of the first act (45+1′). However, Carlo Ancelotti’s men, familiar with unfavorable situations, showed their character by turning the situation around.

Joselu was one of Real Madrid’s heroes as he scored twice in the 61st and 72nd minutes, turning the tide of the match. Despite the resistance of the Berliners who managed to equalize thanks to Alex Král (85′), the La Liga resident had the last word. Dani Ceballos appeared at the very end of the match to restore the advantage to the Madrilenians (2-3). The Whites finished top of their group with an impressive total of 18 points, winning each of their six matches. With this victory, they qualify for the 1/8 finals of the competition. On the other hand, the Portuguese, transferred to the Europa League, and the Germans must say goodbye to the queen competition of Europe.

Inter Milan and Real Sociedad neutralize each other

In a match where the stakes were relatively lower with Inter Milan and Real Sociedad already assured of their qualification for the next stage, the meeting ended in a sharing of points at the San Siro stadium (0-0). On the side of Benfica and Salzburg, the Portuguese eagles quickly took the lead in the first act. Angel Di Maria got the ball rolling by scoring a precise goal in the 32nd minute, closely followed by Rafa Silva who widened the gap just before half-time at 45+1′.

Benfica thus established a comfortable lead. However, Salzburg did not say their last word and came back with determination in the second half. Luka Sucić scored a crucial goal in the 57th minute, giving his team hope. But that was without counting on Arthur Cabral who came to drive the point home in added time (90+2′). Despite their efforts, the Austrians were unable to completely close the gap, and the match ended with a 3-1 victory for Benfica.
