A former Ballon d’Or winner believes Carlo Ancelotti is the best manager of his generation.

Ruud Gullit, one of the legends of Batavian football, believes that Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real Madrid, is the best of the modern era.

“Ancelotti, the king of kings”

The winner of the 1987 Ballon d’Or that Ancelotti supplants Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola, the two other references among coaches. In his column for GamblingZone, he said: “I think Ancelotti is a bit bigger than Sir Alex and Pep because of the Champions Leagues he won. He is at the top and is the king of European triumph. Both Pep and Sir Alex are history, but let’s look at what Ancelotti has achieved. He is the king of kings, better than anyone, and I am very proud of him.”

Ancelotti is in fact the most successful coach in the Champions League. He won it 4 times, twice with Milan and twice with Real. Guardiola and Ferguson have only won it twice. The Frenchman Zinédine Zidane has a total of three Cups with big ears.

Gullit knows Ancelotti very well since he had him as a teammate during the glorious era of AC Milan. Under the orders of Arrigo Sacchi, they had notably won two consecutive C1s.

Gullit knows very well how difficult the job of a coach can be. He himself had tried to get into the profession but without much success. He had mixed experiences with Chelsea and Newcastle.
