FC Barcelona are considering signing exiled Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho in exchange for Brazilian winger Raphinha.
For months, Sancho has been trying to leave Manchester. After being sent off at the start of the season for a public row with manager Erik ten Hag, the former Dortmund winger is considered expendable. The Blaugrana are reportedly ready to part ways with Raphinha to complete what would be a sensational swap, according to Sport.
Raphinha’s name has continued to appear in the transfer rumor columns after a mediocre first season in Catalonia. He has been linked with Chelsea and Arsenal, while the emergence of winger Lamine Yamal at Barca calls his long-term future into question.
Any deal for Raphinha could be complicated by a conflict of interest. Barca sporting director Deco, who is believed to be in charge of the negotiations, is the Brazilian’s former agent, and helped broker the deal that brought him to the Camp Nou in 2022.
Sancho is reportedly hopeful of a return to Man Utd, but Ten Hag has asked the winger to make the first move, which he doesn’t appear to want to do. Raphinha, meanwhile, will continue to fight for his place in the attacking ranks of Xavi’s side.
