Osimhen named African player of the year

Victor Osimhen won the title of best African player of the year 2023 this Monday.

Crowned Italian champion with Napoli and top scorer in Serie A last season with 26 goals, the Nigerian striker was the big favorite for this edition.

For his first African Ballon d’Or, he is ahead of Liverpool’s Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah and PSG’s Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi.

The trophy for best hope went to Senegalese Lamine Camara, a real revelation for FC Metz. This ahead of his compatriot Amara Diouf (Génération football) and the Moroccan Abdessamad Ezzalzouli (Betis Sevilla).
