PSG plays its future in the Champions League on Wednesday evening on the pitch at Borussia Dortmund. There is not total optimism around the Parisian club.

At the dawn of the last day of the Champions League group stage, the most complete suspense reigns in group F. That of Paris Saint-Germain. Just like Kylian Mbappé’s club, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle and AC Milan remain involved in the race to qualify for the round of 16. At different levels, of course, but uncertainty is indeed present. If Dortmund, for example, already has its ticket for the rest of the competition, this is not the case for PSG which can still be transferred to the Europa League. And there is not necessarily total trust around the club.

Interviewed on Sunday during the show Téléfoot, Rio Mavuba expressed his questions about the future of Paris Saint-Germain in C1, and especially its state of preparation, the day after a sluggish success against FC Nantes (2-1, 15th day of the League 1). “ Ready, we can’t say it 100%. In the match (against the Canaries), we saw things that were not perfect, in any case not to the point, in particular the goal conceded. Already on set pieces, the Germans are performing well on this.

Several scenarios

However, the consultant wanted to highlight some positive aspects glimpsed on Saturday evening. “ (Bradley) Barcola performed well on his left side, the return of Marquinhos and (Warren) Zaire-Emery. »And then Rio Mavuba couldn’t help but talk about his fears before the clash against BvB. “ The absence of (Ousmane) Dembélé. We feel that there is a Paris with and without him, and in particular the association with (Achraf) Hakimi which for me is the strong side of PSG. When (Dembélé) is not there, we feel that (Hakimi) is less liberated. (…) For me, everything is not yet perfect, but Paris will have to perform well in Dortmund.

To validate their qualification without worrying about the Newcastle-AC Milan result, PSG will have to win on Borussia’s field. He can also settle for a draw, provided that Newcastle do not win against Olivier Giroud’s gang (the particular goal difference being favorable to the Parisians against the Milanese). Paris can also afford to lose, but it will have to count on a draw between the Magpies and the Rossoneri.
